Cover of the new CD

This is What They Want >>>
Well the CD has finally been released after me going on about it for long enough. The Highlight has to be the new version of 'British Way of Life'. I hate this expression but it sums up the song perfectly - 'IT ROCKS' . Good production, the horns and extras keyboards lift it somewhere the original was only dreaming of. Elsewhere on the CD are demos of Maybe Tomorrow, Knock On Wood and Hey Girl which sound like the Damned playing, it's all so fast.

There will be a track by track review in the discography soon. I got mine in HMV, they have it in their 'two for £22'. It is also available from the HMV website, so mail order is available. If any one abroad wants it and doesn't have a credit card etc, get in contact and I will do my best to help out.

Tops of the Pops 2 >>>
Yes the BBC are showing 'Maybe Tomorrow' on 29th Nov and 2nd December. So set those videos. They must have known, as I have at last added a video clip to the site. Needless to say I will video the clip and have it online as soon as possible.

Find it in the Downloads >>> Video, you will need 'Real Player' to watch it.

Live Dates
To bring everything and everyone up to date, it was possible that the band were going to play with the Wonderstuff, Miles Hunt (singer) is a big Chords fan and he has a mention in the sleeve notes of the new CD. Apparently the other support bands got in there first.

Plenty of people are asking would the Chords like to play places, It may happen but as Billy may be on his travels again nothing can be confirmed until January next year. Offers have included Germany and Scotland. I think the band would like to play but it's such an organisational nightmare for all of them.

The Mods Book
Yes Terry's book is also out at last. It is packed with lots of good pictures and anecdotes. The Chords are mentioned several times and the book contains a whole section on the Mod revival. It is nice to see someone talk about the revival without going on about how it isn't as good as the sixties.

Copies are available from good bookshops, for those that are interested the ISBN number is 0-7119-6813-6. I believe that amazon books have it available on line www.amazon.co.uk, price £19.95.

Odds and Sods
I am trying to get in contact with any of the members of The Small Hours, if any of you have any contact details I would be grateful. The reason, I am now doing a site on them. www.thesmallhours.co.uk. Any pictures etc would be gratefully received. I have the EP cover, Mods mayday 1 and 2 and the Beat Generation covers but need extra pics and info. I'm after anything on the band really.

Dizzy (from Detour Records) says the manager / roadie was called John Le Franc and he lived in Dagenham, if anyone knows him or has any other info they should contact crimestoppers ? sorry I mean me on email : smallhours@goldhawkmusic.co.uk . Go to www.thesmallhours.co.uk or to www.goldhawkmusic.co.uk/thesmallhours/index.htm see work in progress.

Trying also to get in touch with Nigel Oliver, he was The Mods (as in the Mods on the Mayday not the 'Lost Touch' ) manager, again if any one knows him or has contact details can they contact me at mods@goldhawkmusic.co.uk

Your may notice that the web address has/will change this is because I have finely got my own place sorted out. Goldhawkmusic.co.uk is the root for all my future projects. I have already started a 'Small Hours' site. Moving to a different host will also allow me to start selling over the net as well as other things I want to do. The Chords site will move as well, you may have notice that after going to www.thechords.co.uk it would then go to, www.beakz.net/thechords/main.htm. In the future it will be www.goldhawkmusic.co.uk/thechords, it will take me a few days to move it and update anything that needs doing.

Thanks for your time and have a good Christmas (yes that already). I will try and get another newsletter out before the New Year, but unless anything major happens that will be it until after the New Year.

Andy & the ever faithful and patient Nicola
